SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy (Upskilling from SHB40121 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy)
These individuals undertake work independently, with limited guidance from others, to perform routine and non-routine activities and solve non-routine problems. They apply and adapt technical skills and knowledge, and use judgment in the provision of beauty treatments and services. These individuals are responsible for their own outputs and provide limited guidance to others.
Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas.
This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding.
What units are included in this course?
Students in the SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy are required to complete a total of nineteen (19) units of competency to be awarded this qualification. This consists of thirteen (13) core and six (6) set elective units of competency.

What is the duration of this course?
The SHB40115 Diploma in Beauty Therapy runs for approximately five (5) months, and is a mixture of face-to-face classes held on a Monday.
All classes will commence at 9:15 AM and conclude at 3:45 PM, with a thirty (30) minute lunch break provided to all students at 12:15 PM.
All classes are compulsory as student attendance is vital to ensure students are taking part in classroom discussion and activities. If you are unable to attend class on the day, please notify your trainer at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the commencement of classes.
Repeated absences may lead to deferment, and in severe cases, termination of your course.
Am I eligible for a Government Funded Training Place?
Generally, you are eligible for a government-subsidised training place if you are:
- an Australian citizen,
- an Australian Permanent Resident (holder of a permanent visa),
- a New Zealand citizen;
and are any of the following:
- under 20 years of age, or
- 20 years and older and 'upskilling' by seeking to enrol in a course at a higher level than your existing qualification.
Additionally, holders of a valid Centrelink Concession Card may be eligible for further concessions.
